The Global AI On Tour is a free event organized across the world in April, May and June by local communities that are passionate about artificial intelligence on Microsoft Azure.

The Global AI On Tour in Norway is a virtual event arranged in collaboration with NNUG and Power BI meetup amongst others.

The link to the virtual event will be distributed to the registered participants the day before the event.

Join us on Wednesday June 17th from 18:00 – 19:30 for an evening of three amazing talks:

Azure Personalizer (Monica Tvedt)

Improve user experiences and user satisfaction with real-time learning and efficient decision-making with Personalizer, an award-winning AI Cloud service from Azure. In this session we will learn how to utilize Azure Personalizer, creating client applications that can decide which content is the best to show each user.

Explainable Artificial Intelligence: How to make AI responsible (Alise Danielle Midtfjord)

As the use of “black box” algorithms such as deep learning increases rapidly, several challenges related to ethics and law arise. These systems are not capable of explaining their decisions and actions to human users, making it difficult to make sure they follow the laws are morals of our society. Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) addresses these issues by creating understandable explanations of how and why AI systems arrive at their decisions. In this presentation you will learn about some of the moral challenges rising with the use of artificial intelligence, what explainable artificial intelligence is and how it can address a lot of these challenges and contribute to creating trustworthy and responsible AI.

Reinforcement Learning – Pac-Man (Manu Gopinathan & Malte Loller-Andersen)

Ever wondered how the best chess players are being beat by machines? Or how cars are able to learn how to drive by themselves? Sit back as we demonstrate reinforcement learning by building an agent to beat Pac-Man. In addition to using the traditional method called Q-learning, we will make use of deep Q-learning, which utilizes neural networks.

Along the way, will describe the techniques and libraries used, and also demonstrate the agent through the learning process. During your time with us, you will gain insight into reinforcement learning theory, how you can build deep learning models with libraries, such as Keras, and see how this culiminates in a Pac-Man-beating agent.

Prior knowledge of machine learning is not necessary to enjoy the presentation, but you are most likely to understand more if you have dealt with the basics of machine learning previously.

About the speakers

Monica Tvedt
Monica Tvedt is an Oslo-based, hands-on, technology director with a strong passion for .NET and Azure development. She has over 20 years of experience within the Microsoft-stack, it being mobile development with Xamarin or building web applications using .NET Core and Azure.

Alise Danielle Midtfjord
Alise is a PhD candidate at the University of Oslo, where she works with developing machine learning methods for high-risk engineering applications. An important topic for Alise is working towards creating Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI), which is necessary in order to address the challenges with the rapid growth of artificial intelligence.

Manu Gopinathan
Manu is a machine learning enthusiast who works as a software developer for Knowit. Currently, he is a part of a team building a new sales and ticketing solution for public transportation in Norway. Since starting his career, he has attended and held talks and workshops at several international conferences on the topic AI and ML.

Malte Loller-Andersen
Malte is a passionate software engineer and IT consultant for the Nordic consultancy Knowit. Currently, he helps Vy optimize their prices on ticket sales. At Knowit, he has been occupied with organizing summits and workshops, in addition to holding presentations about artificial intelligence.
