NODE+CODE #15 will be hosted by DFF – Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum e.V. in Frankfurt. This time, three parties will present different locally developed tools for annotation, collection, curation and narratives around knowledge production. We will discuss how curatorial practices and digital media shape what we learn and how to dismantle established hierarchies of knowledge. As always, the event will be accompanied by a warm, tasty soup.
✨Constellation (DFF)
The new hybrid museum experience “Constellation” expands the museum space. It allows visitors to discover new connections between objects in the exhibitions, archives and collections of the DFF and its project partners.
✨Motion Bank (Hochschule Mainz)
Thea project was originally initiated by choreographer William Forsythe to explore the possibilities of digital documentation and transmission of dance and choreographic work. Today, Motion Bank is an interdisciplinary research group that combines dance studies, software development and design. The presentation will focus on the development and use of a collaborative web application for multimodal annotation and how it contributes to a better understanding of the knowledge inherent in dance.
✨Mapping Offenbach (NODE x METAHub)
Mapping Offenbach is a prototype for a collaborative annotation tool. It originates from a shared development process between 12 artists, designers and researchers who reflected on the role of tools and people in memory culture. Sharing knowledge about the Jewish history of the city of Offenbach, the tool captures spoken stories and allows for annotations through multiple layers, therefore understanding knowledge as an active, living experience.
