Not a question, but a requirement: For membership in our group, you need to have a Meetup Profile Photo of YOU (not the cat, favorite shoes or Eiffel Tower.) Please be sure there is a photo we can see here. Thanks.

Please tell us your favorite genre, author, beverage or tell us all three.

I prefer fiction, have many guilty pleasures in books but I also enjoy good, crisp, lyrical, imaginative, honest, courageous writing (some or all of the above) and my taste in wine is similar.

In your opinion, what does a book group discussion add to your enjoyment of the reading experience?

If I learn another perspective of a book I like, or a different point of view regarding a book I did not especially enjoy I find group discussion very useful. If I do all the talking (something I am prone to do) I generally become bored.

If your Meetup "location" is NOT in the New Orleans area, please explain why you want to join our group. Thanks.

I moved to NOLA from Vancouver, BC about four years ago because I fell in love with New Orleans when I was sixteen. Now I am generally active demonstrating in front of senators' offices, writing letters to the editor and marching. I read for peace.

What Dixie M. is saying about this Meetup Group

I had a great time. I talked too much, par for the course, but enjoyed the group discussion and all the different perspectives on the book. It is funny that you don't often know what you think of something until you can bounce ideas off other people.
