Get involved with the fiber and textile arts by learning to use a drop spindle to create your own yarn from natural and man-made fibers. A drop spindle can accomplish everything a spinning wheel does, only a touch slower. The spindle is also much more portable!

Class includes an overview of fiber types and sheep breeds, samples of handspun and accessories made from handspun yarn, and instruction on the use of a drop spindle. Spindles will be available to use during class or bring your own. Class spindles are available for purchase if you decide you want to keep it.

Beginner fiber provided in class won’t be the softest wool – the itchier the wool is, the easier it is to learn. The coarser and longer the length of the fibers are, the more forgiving the fiber is to learn with until you build up muscle memory in your hands. If you’ve tried learning to spin before without luck with something yummy and soft, don’t give up – just try again with something a little less soft.

Materials Included: Class fee includes 2oz of various fiber for spinning
