How to process a raw fleece for spinning without ruining it. "Nothing beats spinning wool that has NOT been subjected to industrial cleaning and combing. The industrial processes take out so much of the natural crimp and spring, but hand washing a fleece can be a huge, messy job and leave you with a fleece full of tangles, knots, and noils.

Join me to learn the "Tulle Tootsie Roll Technique" for cleaning raw fleece. Learn how to break the job down so you can clean a fleece over time, you can do it inside (even in a small apartment), and when you are done your locks are clean, bouncy, and free from tangles.

As a bonus, I will demonstrate proper carding techniques as well. After TTRT the locks of wool are so clean and tangle-free you can spin from the lock with no further preparation. However, I recommend carding or combing to blend fibers and open up the structure of the locks for consistent yarn. Learn to card so you don't reintroduce the tangles you have worked so hard to prevent.

Materials fee covers everything needed and participants will go home with 3-4 ounces of clean fleece ready to card and spin, or just spin from the lock."
