Storytelling with Metaphor

Details
We are all drawn to the power of stories. When we approach a challenge using metaphor to tell the story, we are more invested in the process of finding solutions.
Using creative tools— like scissors, glue, colorful markers, and paper —and metaphor during the problem-solving process pathways are opened in the brain for new thinking.
In this workshop, you will practice physical, creative storytelling through your own handiwork. You’ll identify a challenge, visualize it with metaphor, and then use creative tools to tell stories that lead to clear solutions. You’ll practice channeling the power of metaphor and the guided use of creative tools to face a challenge.
We will delight in color, texture and form. We will develop intrinsic motivation for storytelling. We will break down the elements of storytelling, and practice using Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey to establish a clear path for solving future challenges. You will leave with a story of personal success, and a clear understanding of how to apply this technique in personal and professional settings.
Please note: this is a hands on workshop! Please have paper, markers, glue, tape, scissors, and anything else in your-creative toolbox handy and ready to use!
