Northwest Coast Indigenous Art - Concepts and Styles

Details
In this 90-minute hands-on workshop, Jamie will walk through his process of designing and illustrating traditional northwest coast indigenous art.
While sometimes overly complex, this introduction will give you the cultural awareness, appreciation and key structures of this art. Thick form lines, shapes, graceful flowing layout, balance-filled with negative space come together to create abstract and illustrative animals, mythical beings and humans.
Have your preferred medium ready, whether that’s ink and paper or digital. And be ready to draw!
W.J. (Jamie) Sterritt is a member of the Gitxsan nation from the Skeena River area of northern British Columbia, Canada - now living in Kamloops with his 2 daughters.
