“Building a Server Side Swift API for Games” Workshop

Details

Are you interested to learn how to program Swift on the server? In this workshop, you will build an API for your front-end game engine using Perfect!

In this hands-on workshop, participants will build a back-end that:
Logs a player in
Stores individual and high scores
Delivers “in game news” items

Participants will also learn how to build your own Swift Package Module for code re-use. This session is open to anyone who is interested to learn more about programming Swift on the server.

Please bring your own laptops with Xcode 8 already installed. And you can take a look at what is included in the Perfect framework here: http://perfect.org.

About the Facilitator

Jonathan Guthrie [http://perfect.org/jonathan-guthrie.html] has been developing server side applications for nearly 20 years, with a number of different languages. Moved to Canada from New Zealand in 2010 to help architect the next generation of server side development, he’s now part of the Perfect team bringing Swift to the server. In his spare time he’s a session musician, sound engineer, gamer, and loves writing API’s for all sorts of obscure things.
