NVC Practice Series
6-Weeks, Wednesdays, 7-9pm
January 16th - February 20th

How do we live in a way that honors both our needs for realness, to know and be known, as well as our needs for gentleness, holding one another and being held with care?

How do we say what's true without blasting one another through the chimney and up to Mars, and increase the chances that we'll actually stay in each others' lives, and maybe - just maybe - even get our needs met?

For me, these questions go to the heart of NVC practice. I want to know how we can live full lives, merging radical self-expression with our desire to love and tend to one another, honoring ourselves as well as our relationships and shared belonging in the circle of life.

This 6-week series is a place to explore how to bring our full, authentic selves to all of our relationships. A place to explore not just the basic skills of NVC, but to listen deeply to both the body and the heart, and let these be our guides to authentic connection in and outside of the group.

In past groups, members have brought issues ranging from how to deal with their bosses, lovers, children, co-workers, and - most important of all - raging inner jackals - and have found not only empathy and deepened self-awareness, but compassion and community in the process.

At each gathering, we begin with a brief guided meditation, and then move into NVC practice, including skill-building exercises, empathy practice in the group, and role playing challenging conversations in our lives - all the while giving deference to what is "alive" in real-time in the group. This series is for folks with all levels of NVC experience. Pre-requisite: Having read Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life, or attended an introductory workshop.
