What we're about

Want to feel more connected to yourself, other people and the world without your own BS getting in the way? Participate in an introductory evening about a way of communicating practiced by thousands of people in 65 countries, in businesses, schools, homes, hospitals… spreading for over the last forty years. Gain clarity in what you want, what you’re doing and why you’re doing it - healing what’s already happened and growth with where you want to go.

Introductory Session to the Art of Communication

Resource Center For Nonviolence

The purpose of Nonviolent Communication is to speak and listen in a manner that reduces defensiveness, blame, and subtle demands. The practice of NVC involves listening past another person’s criticism to hear the needs that they are trying to meet. And when we have needs that we want to express, it helps us express them in a way that is more likely to be heard. NVC was developed by Marshall Rosenberg, Ph.D. It’s being taught all over the world by over 225 certified trainers (4 are here in Santa Cruz). This introductory session is not intended as a series. We offer the “Basics” series for that purpose. Nevertheless, you are welcome to come to as many of these intro sessions as you like. We recommend it as a way to sample the different styles of our trainers, since the trainers rotate the responsibility of teaching this session. Sundays from 6:30 to 8:30 pm: Jan 6 with Rick Longinotti Feb 3 with Kristin Masters Mar 3 with Jean Morrison These introductory sessions are free in order to make them widely accessible. We always welcome donations in order to cover our costs. Location: the Resource Center for Nonviolence: 612 Ocean St, Santa Cruz, CA 95060 Please register at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/introductory-session-in-the-art-of-communication-tickets-28267642279
