What we're about

Located in northwest Arkansas, this official user group is a place where any and all designers, programmers, and artists can come together as a community focused on game development. Unity is an amazing 3D (and 2D) creation software that has changed the face of the gaming industry. It hits that sweet spot for software tools -- it's easy and accessible for beginners to get started in game development, yet robust enough that experts can use it to create professional content. The NWA Unity User Group exists to bring together like-minded individuals with an interest in using Unity for game development or 3D visualization.

June Monthly Social Event - Game Club: Before Your Eyes

Needs a location

Game club is back, with a slightly different format! We've adjusted game club to take place once every quarter, to allow for more play time, and as a result, (hopefully) increase attendance.

If you haven't participated in Game Club before, it's similar to a book club format. Everyone who would like to participate will vote on a game to play each quarter, and play it over the next 3 months (only 2 months for this first meeting!), until everyone meets to discuss and analyze the game. We'll always start with a focused discussion on the chosen game, but branch out from there to similar games, and other games we've played recently.

The goal of Game Club is to expose us game developers to a wide variety of games, strengthen our ability to critically analyze the games we play, and discuss our experience with other developers in order to strengthen our own games.

The schedule for this quarter is:
4/11-4/20: Voting on which game to play out of 3.
4/21: Announcement of the winning game.
4/21-6/9: Playtime!
6/9: Meeting and discussion!

Before Your Eyes won the voting!

There is also a slack channel in the official NWA Unity User Group slack for the game club. If you need an invite to the slack, ask me or any of the other NWA Unity User Group organizers!

FAQ: Can't play the game because of Cost/Console/Etc? That's fine! Your participation in the discussion can still be valuable. If you can, try to familiarize yourself with the game where you can, or watch somebody else play it.
