Hey hardwarians,

I hope you’re all doing well as we go into the season of giving thanks. And talking of giving thanks, this meetup recently surpassed 3000 members (!!), which I think is a testament to the growing hardware community in our city. Take a minute to think of a few friends who might be interested in this meetup, or exploring the world of hardware, and invite them to be a part of it. With your help we’ll hit 5000 folks in no time.

Our next meetup is on 12/1 – hold the date in your calendars. I’ll be sending out the agenda this week!

Events, Crowdfunding and other

  • Dragon Innovation recently came out with a standardized Bill of Materials add-on to google docs which is AMAZING. Check it out in their recent blog post.
  • ROAR for Good launched their first product called Athena, a wearable for good aimed at helping reduce assaults against women using smart safety jewelry and education. Check out their campaign on Indiegogo.
•, a hardware hacking and learning site, is giving away AWS IoT Buttons to the top 20 ideas submitted to their IoT contest. The Amazon IoT Buttons are currently only available through the competition on hackster. Check it out.

Jobs@ HW Startups

  • Awearable apparel, that is developing location based wearables, is looking for an embedded firmware engineer, and an RF engineer.
  • The Zahn Innovation Center, a startup incubator at City College of New York, is looking for a dynamic Program Director to lead its incubator mentorship, educational programming, and run a prototyping lab for our hardware and software startups, with a focus on connected devices.
  • Lumos is looking for a cofounder after its successful crowdfunding campaign, to head up growth, marketing and branding. Lumos is a new and innovative bicycle helmet designed to improve your visibility and ability to communicate your intentions to motorists around you when riding in traffic. Featuring turn signals and automatic brake lights that are built into the helmet, Lumos is for bikers everywhere. Find out more at

Keep building!
