Meetup recamp, Hardware Cup and Jobs@Hw Startups

Hi hardwarians,

Last Monday’s meetup was as good as it gets. We had some great ideas on show and impressive product demos. As I mentioned on the night, we’re running low on sponsors, so if you know of any organization that wants to sponsor such an awesome event, please send them my way! In case you missed it, here is a recap:

  • We had Ray present their content driven remote control. According to the Wall Street Journal, the Ray Super Remote is the best one out there. If you want to see what the fuss is about, check out www.ray.co or Amazon. And they’ve been kind enough to offer a 10% discount to members of the NY HW Meetup.  Just enter promo code “NYHW” when you checkout at www.ray.co. And please follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more exciting updates.
  • Tiggly makes learning toys for children aged 2-8 that connect with tablet apps, with a presence at retails stores like Best Buy, Apple, Toys R Us and Target stores. They are also offering a discount (enter the code PERCENTAGE10 to get 10% off) at www.tiggly.com. Check out our latest app - a collaboration with Sesame Street (App Store)
  • We heard about ILY, the new home phone focused on family communication, including your little ones and the elderly. If you want to stay updated on ILY with launch dates etc, head over to www.ily.co and leave your email on their website. They're also on facebook and twitter.

Events:

  • The National Hardware Cup is coming to NYC February 23rd! The prize is $50K to Launch or Grow your company - 6 NYC area companies will pitch for cash & prizes, and one winner will advance to the National Finals. Pitch Application Deadline is February 9th and you can apply here. Or register to attend here. Tickets are free, RSVPs requested to plan for food and beer/wine
  • The Zahn Innovation Center, located at the City College Campus in Harlem, has an opening for a new startup tenant in its hardware focused incubator space. With a full-blown machine shop, electronics lab and technical staff, you’ll not find a better place to get your product build. Contact Lindsay Siegel for more information. [address removed]

Jobs@Startups:

  • The incubator NY designs has two job openings. Check them out here.
  • Nucleus is an early stage startup redefining family communication via an innovative smart home intercom device. They are looking for two key hires: VP Product and Senior QA Manager.

Keep building!
