Hey hardwarians,

If you haven’t signed up to our next meetup on Wednesday October 19th, you’re still in time! We’re being hosted by R/GA who will be talking about their newly launched Internet of Things Venture Studio in London, UK (more details below), along with some of the work they have done on wearables with Nike and Fossil. We'll be hosted at their swanky NYC offices with views over the Hudson, and we’ll have two other presenters with some impressive new hardware to show off. Hope to see you all there!

Events, Accelerators and Crowdfunding:

  • CIID, the world-renowned Danish design institute whose alumni and faculty include some of the creators of Arduino, HoloLens, and Apple Watch, is bringing its courses to New York for the first time. Launching in November are two back-to-back 3-day workshops in Designing Connected Objects and Service Design Through Experience Prototyping. Both are intensive and entirely hands-on, don't require any design or technical background, and are designed to give you a major boost in your skills and network. Early-bird signup ends October 20th.
  • Calling all hardware companies! Worlds Fair Nano is a technology and arts festival happening in SF on January 28 & 29, 2017. We offer a unique opportunity to showcase your product for free in our ‘Technology Playground.’ We are looking for hardware companies that can provide a fun and interactive experience for our guests.  Find our promo video here: Based on the scale of your exhibit, we can offer you up to a 10x10 space with tables, chairs, electrical, wifi, and basic signage at no cost to you. If interested, please reach out to [address removed] with a link to your website and any photos from previous trade shows that you have attended.
  • R/GA Ventures is pleased to announce its first ever UK-based venture program, the R/GA IoT Venture Studio UK, focused on startups in: Connected Hardware, Data & AI, Connected Cities, Connected Finance, Connected Enterprise, OOH, Augmented Reality, Robotics, Smart Farming, Environmental Sensing, Urban Surveillance and Security, Mobility and Smart Cars, Off-Grid Mesh Networks, and Solar Charging. Applications are now open through November 14th. Apply here.
  • Hackster, Amazon and Intel have partnered to lead a new IoT event series focused on bettering our plant. For NYC’s event, please register here.
  • Shaun Salzberg, who once presented at our meetup when he was at Dragon Innovation recently went off on his own and has just come out with his first product – a fantastic new board game! It’s a little different to what we’re used to on this meetup, but it's very cool so go check out his Kickstarter campaign and show some support!

Keep building!
