Hey hardwarians,

Last meetup was pretty incredible, but if you missed it, don’t fret, as we have our next one on May 3rd. As a recap to the last meetup:

  • We had Sunhouse, who demo’d their next generation electronic drum kit called Sensory Percussion.
  • The folks from Motivate, who run the Citibike operation in NYC (and other cities), told us what it’s like to build a bike for the mean streets of NY and the high standards of city commuters. They have 2 awesome job openings: Director of Hardware Product and eBike Product Manager.
  • Want a phone away from your phone? Well, talk to Lightphone, who have a built an incredible device with some even more amazing design. Here is an article to learn more, and you can pre-order a phone on their website.
  • And of course, thanks to our sponsors UrbanX, Canary and Microsoft.

  • Join URBAN-X & SOSV next week for two community events focused around AI and Constraint Programing.

The Automated Work Week: The Advance and Ethics of Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Work, Tuesday April 18th, 6 pm - 8 pm, A panel conversation about how and why AI will change the way we live and work over the next decade, and the ethical questions it presents. RSVP

There are many combinatorial problems in artificial intelligence, computer hardware design, production scheduling, timetabling, and product configuration that can be formulated and solved using boolean satisfiability (SAT) or constraint programming (CP). RSVP

Jobs at Hardware Startups:

  • Line Health is developing a new approach to medication management as is looking for a VP of Hardware.
  • Electric Objects is pioneering digital art in the home. We’re a small and growing group of digital art enthusiasts with a wide spectrum of expertise.  After successfully launching our second generation product, the EO2, in October, we are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team and help us scale.  You’ll get the opportunity to design and build a beautiful digital art display and accompanying accessories that will be in homes across the world.
