Ken Sandy, The Influential Product Manager, and Seanita Tolliver Fireside Chat
Details
Meetup is happening on Hopin here: https://hopin.com/events/ny-product-meetup
Ken Sandy, product leader, author of “The Influential Product Manager,” and industry fellow and lecturer at UC Berkeley, where he teaches the engineering school’s first product management course will be interviewed by Seanita Tolliver, VP of Product Design at Medidata Solutions.
As of December 2019, there are over 830,000 current product manager or product owner LinkedIn profiles (over 260k in the USA alone). The availability of trained and experienced product manager talent can barely keep up with the demand. Furthermore, the industry is standardizing on what an effective product manager does, which makes learning and putting into practice skills that are transferable across the industry possible.
Ken is a senior technology Product Management exec from the SF Bay Area including online education companies, MasterClass and lynda.com (Linkedin Learning). He pioneered the first Product Management course offered in the Engineering school at UC Berkeley, which has over 400 PM alumni practicing in industry, and recently released “The Influential Product Manager – How to Lead and Launch Successful Technology Products” a guide to navigating the challenging collaborative aspects of the product manager’s role.
This meetup will be especially useful for – but not limited to – those in small-medium companies with early, immature product management structure, lacking certain process, or leadership/mentorship. Current and aspiring technology product management professionals ranging in career experience from entry-level up to about 7 years with an emphasis is on independent contributors (ICs) over managers. Technology fields include software, internet, mobile, web, and Saas – both consumer and enterprise industries. Practices outlined will be useful to those managing either existing products or trying to create new products.
