Join us for a fall hike in Harriman State Park. We will hike in the western section of the park along the Appalachian Trail and the Long Path, and see some of the fascinating geological formations that make this area so beautiful. Rocky trails and many long, sustained hill climbs along the way.

The Lemon Squeezer is a rock formation on the Appalachian Trail in Harriman State Park, NY. Squeeze through a narrow section of rock, then scramble up a rock face. This loop also takes in Island Pond, Boston Mine, and the Valley of Boulders plus views to the west. The Lemon Squeezer is a really interesting and fun section of the trail. The AT goes through an opening created by rocks, then you need to squeeze through a narrow section. After the Squeezer, you can scramble up a rock face.

The terrain is rugged and rocky trail surface, but other than the Squeezer, no real scrambling.

I've also just found out that there's a beer fest in Peekskill not far away from our hike and since we're also a group that enjoys our social engagements with a little beer, I say why not? The Peekskill Brewery is hosting their annual street party, but this year it will be bigger and better, called the Hudson Hop and Harvest Festival which will run from 4-11pm. The event is free to enter, but you pay for beer and food. For more information, click here (http://www.hudsonhopandharvest.com/pages/mission.php).
