What we’re about
This is a group for folks who love to get into nature but fall into one or more of these categories: 1) Somewhat daunted by 20 mile, 5000 ft elevation-gain day hikes; 2) New to hiking and camping; 2) Just like to amble along and enjoy the scenery and the company rather than rush to a destination. We do chill day-hikes, overnights, and just overall chill activities that will get us outside from time to time.
Note: Outdoor activities can lead to injuries. This meetup and organizers are not responsible for any sort of member injuries that happen at or after any events. Please be responsible and take care of yourself!

See all- Urban Athletics: Ride for PupusasCity Hall Park, New York, NY
Cycling and eating...two activities a lot of us enjoy, but often not together. Let's combine the two by taking a bike ride to one of New York's most interesting melting pots to have a Salvadorian staple--the pupusa.
The plan...
After assembling at City Hall Park, we'll wind our way through Brooklyn, until we make our way to Sunnyside. First stop on our adventure will be Ricas Pupusas & Mas for a little taste of El Salvador here in NYC. Live a bit of a shuttered life an don't know what a pupusa is? No worries, welcome to class--a pupusa is a beloved Salvadoran dish made of a thick corn tortilla and stuffed with a savory filling. (Hint: They are DELICIOUS.) You mix together masa flour, salt, and water to make up the dough and then add any kind of savory filling—typical options include beef, beans, cheese, and pork. Mmmmmm.
No day of eating is complete without something sweet to tempt your palate and expand your waistline. We'll be making our next stop at Buttah where I'll be trying their Tres Leches Cake, but don't worry if that isn't your jones, they have plenty of other delectable treats to satisfy.

What comes to mind when you think of the Jersey Shore? If you said Snookie, The Situation, and fist pumping then you REALLY need to turn off the television and join me on this cycle tour to see a side of the Jersey Shore never shown on television. This ride is a meetup favorite so let's do it again.
The plan...
We'll gather at the New Jersey Transit train station in Long Branch to begin our adventure. From here we'll ride a few blocks over to the shoreline and begin our journey Southward. We'll take in the sights as we ride down the coast and watch the neighborhoods change -- starting with the town of Deal and its uber-wealth and seaside mansions, through Asbury Park, the home of The Boss and one-time resort destination [and home of Purple Glaze, one of the best donut shops in Jersey], to Ocean Grove, a curious and beautiful Victorian Christian settlement, on through to scenic Spring Lake.
We'll have a late lunch in Spring Lake and if we are feeling a bit lazy and want to hang out, we can park our rides and spend an hour or two on the sand shooting the breeze and enjoying the weather. The last part of our ride will bring us back to Long Branch to depart for home.
