We're excited to host February's event at Brex's new NYC offices! We're also excited to have Bernardo Amorim introduce us to some Lambda Calculus!

## About the presentation

We all learn a lot about Turing Machines and why it is an important model and its correlation to the microprocessors we have today. However, not everyone learn about another important model: Lambda Calculus. We'll learn a little bit about simple untyped lambda calculus, implement some data structures using only functions (no other Elixir data type) and hopefully have some fun.

## About Bernardo

Bernardo started coding at age of 12 with some JavaScript and PHP. In the last two years he has built a banking system using mainly Elixir with a team that grew from 3 to around 30 developers. He is now attending Recurse Center to deepen his knowledge of diverse computer science topics.

## About Brex

Brex is building the new global standard for financial services, starting with corporate cards. We are designing the product from first principles, enabling us to have unparalleled features and a seamless, modern experience for our customers. Brex is one of the fastest-growing startups to date, and we have heavily invested in Elixir. We recently opened an office in NYC and are hiring!
