7th ANNIVERSARY OF FUKUSHIMA - Not just About Japan - Art, Music, Meditation

Details

• What we'll do
Find out what it's like living near Fukushima after the disastrous meltdown 7 years ago.
See moving original art by Japanese anti-nuke power artists. Hear from Japanese speakers who oppose nuclear energy/war; learn about major problems with nuclear waste and how these issues relate to people everywhere, including us in the NYC area who are so close to Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant. What does nuclear power have to do with the nuclear bomb??

There are some 440 nuclear reactors operating worldwide, 64 more under construction. A few of Japan's 54 have reopened since the Post-Fukushima shutdown in 2011. There are 99 in the US. One of the riskiest is the aging Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant 50 miles up the Hudson River that stores more spent fuel than Fukushima and won't be closed for decommissioning until 2021.
