Interested in medical research? Want to learn how computer science can make medical research more effective and efficient? Or maybe you’re in the data science field and want to apply your skills in machine learning and analytics to this area? In this meetup, we encourage people to freely share, learn, and possibly work together.
Here’s what you can expect from the group:
- To meet people across different fields and see how they can work together to solve medical research problems - To share your skills and knowledge to improve others’ understanding of the areas involved in bioinformatics and medical research - To deepen your understanding of bioinformatics from a computer scientist or medical researcher’s perspective - To learn what you can do to contribute to the field of bioinformatics
Bioinformatics is an exciting field because its research areas involving the unlocking of genetic causes behind major diseases could have a significant impact on many lives, including those suffering from mental disorders, cancer, and other illnesses.
We welcome presentations from anyone working in medical research, bioinformatics, or a related field to share knowledge and expertise. We expect to have a range of talks from active medical research, to what types of algorithms are used in bioinformatics and genomics, as well as the computational and data challenges researchers are looking to conquer.
