What we're about

We are New York's number one group for hiking, skiing, biking, snowboarding, and more. We have no cliquey events where only the regulars always get chosen, and every event starts with carpool so nobody is left behind. We are the most inclusive group in NYC for hiking, skiing, biking, snowboarding, and other outdoor adventures.

Our group is about the democratization of the outdoors, so you can be the adventure spark ( https://www.ridj-it.com/adventurespark ) without having to go through layers of the usual Meetup hierarchy.

Do you want to get out and go skiing but don’t have a ride? We’ve got your back. Have you been dreaming about surfing but can’t make it out to California? We know a secret spot to paddle out, and its way closer than you think. Ridj-it has helped bring thousands of people from the creature comforts of the city out to adventures of a lifetime all around the Northeast. Pick one of our trips or design your own; we’ll sort out the details. Your ride is outside. What are you waiting for?

Ridj-it has taken over 2,000 cars off the road, and through connecting those without cars with those who have one, we've helped adventurers host over 500+ events.

Drivers and riders can post adventures from various station throughout the Tri-state area. Our events include people from Meetup, Facebook, and others, so we're more than your typical NYC Meetup group.

Why do we carpool? ( https://www.ridj-it.com/single-post/2018/02/18/Why-Carpool ) We found most other outdoor Meetups were leaving younger residents, people of color, and immigrants behind. By linking our trips to carpool, we make sure everyone has to work together as a team in order to go on events. Many of our hosts don't have cars, and we're proud to have a space where outdoor enthusiasts can slowly democratize access to the Northeast's beautiful mountains, rivers, and beaches.

Bike the Edgar Felix Memorial Bikeway - 10.4 Miles

Needs a location

Hey Guys! We have a different process for helping people sign up for events. You need to follow this link in order to come, whether that means you will just meet everyone at the destination or sign up for carpool: https://p.ridj-it.com/app/trips-search?id=23418 If you have any questions about how we make all of this happen, please do not hesitate to message us here or at [masked]. We're really excited to help more people get outside, and we think you'd be a great addition to the fun. Trip Details: Enjoy 10.4 miles on this very-doable ride on the Edgar Felix Memorial Bikeway. Once part of the Freehold and Jamesburg Agricultural Railroad, this path has been converted into a pedestrian and bike-friendly trail in the city of Manasquan. The beginning of the trail lies close to the Atlantic, and it gradually moved inward over a couple of pedestrian bridges, farmland, and eventually ends at Allaire State Park. Depending on the mood of the group, we can check out the State Park or ride back immediately to then drop off our bikes and hang out on the beach. Bike rentals are available by following the link above (which you have to do to register as well). This ride is rated as easy due to the number of miles and smoothness of the trail. The speed of this ride will be very relaxed, so if you’re looking to blast ahead, may we suggest a different path (which we’d love for you to be an adventure spark for!). You must know how to ride a bike. Gear Please wear tennis shoes (no sandals), optional jeans since this is a relatively short ride, shorts, a light jacket in case of wind, bug spray, sunglasses, and a hat. Please bring a liter of water and snacks. We can purchase food elsewhere based on how the group is feeling. Bike Rental $18.00

Bike the Putnam Trailway – 21.8 Miles

Needs a location

Hey Guys! We have a different process for helping people sign up for events. You need to follow this link in order to come, whether that means you will just meet everyone at the destination or sign up for carpool: https://p.ridj-it.com/app/trips-search?id=23453 If you have any questions about how we make all of this happen, please do not hesitate to message us here or at [masked]. We're really excited to help more people get outside, and we think you'd be a great addition to the fun. Head out on what used to be referred to as the “Old Put” which carried passengers to-and-from NYC to Brewster. We’ll pass through wooded areas filled with the usual chipmunks and squirrels playing chicken with pedestrian and bike traffic, and you’ll hear the calls of dozens of different species of birds welcoming Spring with their tweets. In addition to all of the beautiful forested features, various lakes will dot the way, and based on how we’re feeling, we can always pull over and do some exploration. After turning back and completing our ride, we can stop to eat somewhere in town. Bike rentals are available for this hike. We will do our best to accommodate your own bike, but if the driver does not have room, please be ready to rent the bike. $27/day. This ride is rated as moderate due to the number of miles over the day. You must know how to ride a bike in order to attend. This ride will be at a leisure/moderate pace. Gear Please wear tennis shoes (no sandals), athletic shorts or pants, a light jacket in case of wind, bug spray, sunglasses, and a hat. Please bring a liter of water and snacks.
