A cheap day out at the Bronx Zoo

Summer is almost here in all of its glory so let's enjoy a cheap day out at the Bronx Zoo

Just for a change, we are doing a weekday meetup for anyone that can attend. If you are retired, on vacation, or just feel like calling in sick please join us.

Meet at 9:15 am

On the front end of the #1 train uptown platform 59th street\Columbus Circle Station

We will take the first #1 train to leave after 9:30 am so please do not be late. Better to give yourself plenty of time for early arrival.

We will change for the #2 train at 72nd street and take that train to Pelham Parkway. This elevated station has three elevators that lead down to street level. We'll then head west a short distance to the Zoo's Bronx River entrance (Gate B).

General admission is free all day on Wednesdays at the Bronx Zoo.
(However, the Zoo does request that you consider making a donation to help support their operating costs)

NOTE 1
If you wish to visit the following attractions Bug Carousel, Butterfly Garden, Children's Zoo, Congo Gorilla Forest, JungleWorld, Nature Trek, Wild Asia Monorail, and Zoo Shuttle each have a $6.00 entrance fee. However, we shall have plenty to do and see with a free ticket.

NOTE 2
The train takes approximately 46 to 55 minutes so anyone wishing to drive and meet us at the Zoo entrance should get there around 10:15 and let me know to look for them when we get there.

There is no charge for this event other than optional zoo attractions, and food and beverage and train fares.

All types of cameras from cell phones to expensive DSLRs are welcome

Do check the weather forecast and dress appropriately. Wear comfortable walking shoes, the zoo is large!

Don't forget your charged batteries and empty memory cards.

Please DO be on time. Allow yourself enough travel time and check with the MTA for any subway updates.
