Description of project:
Freeman Street is a new 4 story, 5 unit apartment building in Greenpoint. It is modeled after the idea of a European style building group, when friends get together as their own developers. The street facade mirrors this idea as each member chose the shape and location of their windows. Another design feature is the stairway with natural light as well the exterior wall being exposed concrete on the inside. Shared common spaces are the future green roof and parts of the cellar.

Envelope description
Exterior walls out of one sided insulated concrete forms with 6” EPS on the outside.Roof is 5.5” of concrete on a deep roof deck with 8” Polyiso insulation covered by an EPDM membrane. Windows are triple pane with solid spruce frames and an alu-clad exterior.Mechanical System:Heating and cooling by an air-to-air heat pump with 1 air handler each within the apartments and 1 condensing unit on the roof.Ventilation system: 8 pairs of oscillating thruwall fans with dust filter and energy recovery core.
