Monthly Meeting - Legacy Automation with Ansible
Details
First talk: Ansible for Legacy Systems
When deploying configuration automation tools like Ansible, primary attention is often given to greenfield deployments and new technologies. Legacy environments are typically persistent and business-critical. Improvements in their management can have significant benefits for preventing outages, simplifying changes, and the ops team's quality of life. In this talk, Kevin White will discuss strategies and techniques for managing complicated legacy environments with Ansible.
Second talk: Converting Bash Scripts to Ansible
As Ansible becomes more ingrained as the automation solution from enterprises to personal applications, modernizing legacy automation scripts to take advantage of its features becomes more imperative. In this talk, Dave Glaser will explore the benefits of converting Bash scripts to Ansible playbooks and a method for converting them.
