We are pleased to host an informal evening session with Cloudera and Doug Cutting, the father of Hadoop and Chief Architect at Cloudera.
11 years ago, Doug created Hadoop out of the need to meet the massive parallel processing and storage needs of a global search engine indexing 100s of millions of web pages. Today, Hadoop is powering the world of big data. Government and businesses are using solutions built on the Hadoop ecosystem to help save lives, fight cyber threats, detect frauds, predict churn, analyse genome, and the list goes on.
There is also an increased demand across all industries for candidates to fill the jobs as Digital Architect, Chief Digital Officer, Data Scientist, Data Analyst, and Data Engineer. The force of Hadoop, machine learning, and big data analytics is making what’s impossible today, possible tomorrow.
In this session, Doug will take us through the journey of Hadoop, how it has evolved and what we might expect in the coming years. It will be a casual session with ample opportunity for Q&A.
Pizza and Drinks will be provided.
Thanks to the academic partnership between Cloudera and Auckland University of Technology, and AUT Data Science Research Group (https://dsrg.aut.ac.nz) co-organising the event, we are pleased to host this session at AUT.
