What we're about
Welcome to the New Zealand Association of Rationalists and Humanists in the Bay of Plenty.
We've started a new Facebook group for the Bay of Plenty:
The Atheists Community of Tauranga, New Zealand
Join the Facebook group to participate in online discussions, keep up-to-date on events you may be interested in, and to connect with others.
It is a great opportunity to exchange ideas with others who value human dignity and free thought
The NZARH traces its roots as far back as 1878 and has been headquartered at 64 Symonds Street, Auckland, since 1960. Please visit http://www.reason.org.nz for more information.
You are welcome to attend our meetings no matter what your persuasion. Our members may identify themselves as atheists, agnostics, skeptics, freethinkers, brights, or choose not to associate with any of these labels. While the term atheist conveys meaning with more people than rationalist and humanist, it is only stating a lack of a belief. Our members do believe in something. They believe that the world can be understood in terms of natural processes and since we only have this life it is important that we treat each other with respect. This is best achieved in an open and tolerant society.
The objects for which the NZARH is established are:
• To advocate a rational, humane, and secular view of life without reference to supernatural agencies and which is compatible with the scientific method.
• To promote a tolerant, responsible, and open society.
• To encourage open-minded enquiry into matters relevant to human co-existence and well-being.
