This NVW Meetup is a pathway to the non-profit organization Napa Valley Writers, a branch of California Writers Club. CWC-NVW is a professional organization open to writers in every genre and at every level of experience, from novice to notable. Our purpose is to promote fellowship and to provide practical information that supports all members in achieving their publishing goals.
NVW meetings are always open to the public and our Meetup friends.

If you're one of those local writers in search of a critique/writers group, people with whom you can share your work, share your time, people who can help you become a stronger writer, ask NVW about our critique groups.
NVW meets regularly to learn from and help each other. Monthly meetings feature well known authors and offer an opportunity for members to read from their current works. Cost is $10, guests; $7 NVW members; Free to full-tim students with ID.
NVW also sponsors workshops, open mic events, salons, and social activities. A branch of the California Writers Club, founded in 1909 and one of the nation’s oldest professional clubs for writers, our motto is Writers Helping Writers.
We look forward to meeting you at one of our upcoming events. There's a place here for you.
Napa Valley Writers will host professional editor, Brian Paone.
As a published author of five novels dating back to 2007, Paone says he would never rely on his own editing skillset to be the final eyes on the work he is sending into the world. And the main reason is that we, as authors, are too invested in our own works; we can’t see the mistakes or the clunky sentences or the awkward phrasing because it sounded correct in our head when we wrote it. Or maybe it didn’t, but we can’t quite put our finger on why. One of the most common reasons why we should never self-edit our own work is because when we are reviewing it for errors, we know the material so well that we fall into the trap of reading our own voice and become unable to see the words through the reader’s eyes.
Paone has thus far published the novels Dreams Are Unfinished Thoughts, Welcome to Parkview, Yours Truly, 2095 and Moonlight City Drive Parts 1 & 2. He founded and runs a writing group on Facebook called Fiction Writing which has over 125,000 members and has won numerous awards for being one of the top five best writing groups available online. Brian has been a professional editor since 2013 and has edited over 500 manuscripts for authors all over the world.
