[VIRTUAL] Reading Between The Lines: Audience Analysis for Software Developers
Details
Topic:
Developers write a lot more than code, which means we write for a lot more readers than just our end users. Email, issue tickets, documentation, code comments, and code reviews are just the start. Even while writing code, we often have to manage multiple audiences at the same time. In this discussion, we’ll explore the many audiences we write for, and I’ll present strategies for streamlining and energizing the software development process from coding to documentation (each step in between) through effective audience analysis.
Skill Level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced):
Beginner
Speaker:
Caty is a software engineer whose audiences include creative and talented fellow developers, curious travelers, and a patient beagle-mix called Laika (a surprisingly good listener). Prior to starting software development, Caty taught English and ran the Writing Center at Middle Tennessee State University.
