What we're about

We will approach to nature using our intuition, observation and meditation, instead of using our minds. We will explore forests from a holistic perspective, connecting with the energy of the trees and learning from them. We will do mindful nature walks, with some parts of the walk in silence and other parts where we share conversation and connect with others. We can also learn about wild food uses, bushcraft, medicinal plants and wildlife of the areas we visit. For lunch, we can share local, organic and healthy food, and eat with mindfulness. These are just some ideas of things I would like to do but I am open to suggestions. I would like that everybody contribute to the group with their knowledge & experience and we create this together. I don't want to be the leader and the only one proposing activities. I will need people who know areas near Bristol to do walks as I am quite new here and people who have knowledge that I don't have. Hope you can help me in the creation of this group that I envisioned.

Evening Mindfulness at Westridge Wood, Wotton-under-Edge

Westridge Wood is a lovely, peaceful woodland on the edge of the Cotswolds, near the charming Cotswold market town of Wotton-under-Edge. It's perfect for outdoor mindfulness, so if you are able to get here I highly recommend it. WHERE & WHEN We will meet at 7:00pm at Old London Road, Wotton-under-Edge, ready to start at 7:10pm: https://goo.gl/maps/vJQbsSWHqK22 - co-ordinates are 51°38'50.1"N 2°21'02.1"W. The postcode is GL12 7EG, but that might not get you to the exact spot. Look for a turning signposted to Waterley Bottom. We will be meeting right there. WHAT WE WILL DO We will walk into the woods and then go through a series of mindfulness techniques. Half of the time we will be stood still and the other half of the time we will be walking slowly. Westridge Wood is a lovely peaceful spot for becoming more present in this way while in nature. Towards the end we will also have a little bit of social time to chat. COST This group does cost me money (and time) to run, so any voluntary donations will be gratefully received. However, if you are short of money you are absolutely welcome to attend for free. PLEASE NOTE: * Please do not bring dogs or young children as these have the potential to create additional complications. * Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear and bring food and drink. * If you are unsure how to get to the meeting point, please contact me well in advance. If you try to contact me on the day I not have enough time to help you. * If you do want to contact me on the day, please phone or text me on[masked] rather than sending a message via Meetup as I may not have internet access. * Once the session starts I will have my phone turned off to avoid disruptions, therefore you will be unable to contact me after the start time. * If you have any mental health issues, please let me know in advance as the session may not be suitable for you. While most people have no problems with the mindfulness techniques, please be aware I am not a trained mental health professional and cannot take responsibility if any adverse effects are experienced. Outdoor Fun and Mindfulness at Lower Woods Nature Reserve

Join us at Lower Woods Nature Reserve for a day of fun games and mindfulness. It's going to be awesome! WHERE & WHEN We will not be meeting at the actual location first because there's limited parking and it's difficult to find. Instead, we will meet at 10:30am (ready to leave at 10:45) at the free public car park in Chipping Sodbury (NOT the Waitrose car park, the one next to it): https://goo.gl/maps/3jWB4P3Hpj42 Barnhill Road BS37 6RS From here we will car share to the actual location about 6 miles away. WHAT WE WILL DO For the first hour we will play some fun games to loosen us up and put us in a good mood, including otter tag. After the fun games we will stop for a picnic lunch. In the afternoon we will get into the mindfulness techniques. Half the time we will be stood still and half the time we will be walking slowly. Although most of the afternoon will be in silence, there will be some social time towards the end for discussion and chat, as well a bit of time to do more of a walk and explore the woods. Bring a mat to sit on at lunch time too. * If you are unsure how to get to the meeting point, please contact me well in advance. If you try to contact me on the day I may be driving to the meeting point or there may just not be enough time to help you.
