- Bike: There is a bike-parking nearby.
to bring:
- Cloth according to the weather, there are some blackberry vines on the way.
- Good shoes - part of the Skaneleden is muddy. There are some stones to climb.
- Enough water.
- Food - we will do two longer breaks.
- Something to sit on if it is wet.
- Something against ticks.
Description:
We will start in Veberöd Öster and go through Idala, where we will follow a path through Körsbärdalen. From here we will go along a small street and arrive on Skåneleden SL2. Here, the Skåneleden is a bit overgrown and hard to find, but it rewards us with a nice picnic place on some rocks. After we have enjoyed the view, we will follow it a bit further. Now, the Skaneleden follows a road anyhow, and we leave it in order to head to Östarp. From now on we might decide to take another route as the drawn one. The main thing is that we do not end up in a fenced area where some boars are living, as there is no way out but climbing over the fence!!
In Östarp we will take a break in the garden of the gammal gård and leave ourselves some time to watch the houses, the watermill, and the animals.
After that we will take the shortest way back to Veberöd.
The bus back to Lund goes every 30 minutes.15 attendees
Guided tour in English in Limhamns kalkbrott
Limhamns kalkbrott, Kalkbrottsgatan 114, Malmö, SEMalmö has a nature reserve in the city! However it can only be accessed with a guide from Malmö stad. You'll need to reserve your spot for the tour by buying a symbolic ticket via this link: https://www.kulturcentralen.nu/evenemang/limhamnlimestonequarry-joinaguidedtourinenglish It costs 10 kr. Note that the sale opens one month before the event, on April 24th at 9am. Make sure you pick the right date (May 24th). Spots sell fast, so if you are eager to join, make your reservation early in the day. Since it's a public tour I have no idea how many spots are available. It's first come first serve.
The reserve comes with restrictions. One of them being: it is not allowed to walk or stay outside of the assigned paths and areas. Another being: it is also not allowed to bring pets or drones and other aircrafts.
After the tour, for those who are interested, we can walk around the quarry, it's 4km. There are viewpoints with nice view of the area, see featured photo. The tour lasts for 2 hours. The duration of this event is including the walk around the quarry.
Limhamns kalkbrott has been a nature reserve since 2011. It used to be a mining area, but nature has been roaming free since 1994, when the operations closed down.
What to bring: water could be good, and also sunscreen. Dress according to weather.
