What we’re about
We hold meetings most Thursday evenings with a lecture and discussion. We also host frequent field trips for members to get out into Nature and learn more about this wonderful world we live in.
Members of Nature Vancouver have been working for more than 100 years to promote the enjoyment of nature, to educate ourselves and others about the natural world and to preserve and protect natural areas in the vicinity of Vancouver.

See all- Welcome Bird Walk for Beginner’s at ƛ̓éxətəm Regional Park(formerly Colony Farm)Needs location
Pre-registration is required and this walk is limited to 15 participants. Replying to the Meetup posting doesn’t register you for the walk. Please email Neill Vanhinsberg to register: nvanhinsberg@gmail.com
Washrooms are available on site. Nature Vancouver members will be given priority but this is a beginner’s walk. We will be meeting at the parking lot off Colony Farm Road. Directions will be sent with confirmation of registration.
Kelvin Yip and Neill Vanhinsberg will co-lead a walk around the park checking duck ponds, fields, wooded areas and gardens for migrants. The walk will start at 8 AM and should last approximately 2+ hours. This is an easy walk on mostly level ground with trails that are either gravel or hard packed. There will be some binoculars to lend out if you don’t have a pair.
The emphasis will be on finding and identifying birds from a beginner’s perspective, then observing their behaviour. Questions are encouraged! Spring migration will be going strong so we should find lots of migrants. Birds we can expect to see include several warbler and swallow species as well as other migrants.
You can check out the latest sightings at the park on ebird https://ebird.org/hotspot/L298193/bird-list?yr=curM&rank=lrec
