We're an informal group that studies Buddhist teachings through reading and discussions. We meet monthly (usually the second Sunday of the month) and, typically, read one book over the course of several months. We don't follow a spiritual leader and are open to exploring all forms of Buddhism, including Theravada (including Vipassana), Mahayana (including Zen), and Tibetan. We support and encourage each other in our quests for deep understanding and growth as Buddhists and as ordinary human beings.
We welcome anyone who is interested in studying Buddhism in this way. We request that you join our group only when you feel ready to commit to attending two or more meetings. We meet in Eugene, usually on the second Sunday of each month, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and start each meeting with a short meditation. See the meeting invitations for the book we're currently discussing. Regular group members participate in choosing future books.
REAL LOVE by Sharon Salzberg: Chapters 2 & 3
You're invited to join our June meeting. We're discussing these chapters from REAL LOVE:
2: The Stories Others Tell About Us
3: Welcoming Our Emotions
We start with 15 minutes of meditation, followed by discussion. If you arrive during the meditation, please come in quietly, remove your shoes at the door and join us. Thanks.
