Nerd Nite Miami

Details
Nerd Nite is a monthly event during which several folks give fun-yet-informative presentations across all disciplines – while the audience drinks along. It's like the Discovery Channel… with beer! This month's speakers and topics:
- Where Is Everybody?: Space and the Fermi Paradox
by Melissa Blundell-Osorio, Nerd Nite Boss
According to some estimates, there should be 100,000 intelligent civilizations in our galaxy. So, where are they? Come learn about the different possible explanations space nerds have proposed to explain the Fermi paradox - the apparent contradiction between the high probability estimates for intelligent life on other planets and the total lack of evidence.
Melissa has been a Nerd Nite Miami Boss since co-founding it in 2014. During the day, she's the Director of Education at the World Erotic Art Museum. Her professional nerdy interests are in human behavior, psychology, and anthropology, particularly when it comes to sex and beauty. Learning about astronomy is one of her favorite hobbies.

Claudio Luis Vera is a 25-year veteran of building user experiences for the web and mobile devices. He now commutes far too much on Miami roads and works as an accessibility expert, ensuring that digital content can be enjoyed by all regardless of physical ability.
