New Meetup: Classical Concert Series: NEC Orchestra plays Kodaly, Barber + Schumann

Announcing a new Meetup for Nerd Fun - Boston!

What: Classical Concert Series: NEC Orchestra plays Kodaly, Barber + Schumann

When: October 21,[masked]:30 PM

Where:
Jordan Hall
30 Gainsborough St
Boston, MA 02115

Let's meet up for another evening of FREE classical music!

The New England Conservatory has a series of FREE symphony orchestra concerts at Jordan Hall each Wednesday night during the fall. The hall is absolutely beautiful, and the acoustics are amazing. I will always try to sit in the left-middle balcony section, since it affords a good view of the orchestra, and any pianist's hands should there be one. However, sometimes the balcony is closed; if so, I will try to sit the group on the left side of the hall past the overhang.

This evening's program will be performed by the NEC Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Charles Peltz. For more details about him and the concert, go to http://www.necmusic.edu/nec-symphony-orchestra-peltz

The concert starts at 8pm, but let's meet up at 7:30, so the group has a chance to socialize before the concert.

Directions to Jordan Hall:
The hall is located at the corner of Huntington and Gainsborough streets, about a block south of the Symphony T stop on the Green Line. (The last time I was there, there was black canvas covering the side of the building and the sidewalk, as I believe the facade is under repair.)

This evening's program will include:

  • Kod?ly's Marossz?k Dances
  • Barber's Essay No.1
  • Schumann's Symphony No. 3
