Understanding How We Can Work Together: Philanthropy in the Tech Sector

One of Victoria's booming industries is the tech sector with many of these companies wanting to do good. Yet often, non-profits and businesses speak different languages and run on different timelines. There are many roadblocks for non-profits looking to make meaningful relationships with businesses. This panel of tech-based philanthropists will provide insight into how non-profits can best engage with businesses who are willing to give. Suggested donation: $5. Agenda 5:30-6:00: Doors open, schmoozing, juice and snacks 6:00-6:05: NetSquared welcome and program updates 6:05-7:00: Panel with Tech Companies engaging in Philanthropy 7:00-7:05: NetSquared Victoria Needs Parade* 7:05-7:30: Mingling, talking about next steps Panel will be moderated by Lori Muñoz Malcolm of HeartPress. When businesses are looking to give back to the community, HeartPress is the first go-to resource. HeartPress connects businesses with nonprofits through an online marketplace, #BrokersOfGood which allows businesses to search for opportunities to donate, volunteer, give pro-bono services, and in-kind donations to local charities. *The Needs Parade is a chance to share an ask or an offer with the Netsquared Community. During the Parade participants have one minute to share either a request (ex. my event is looking for a photographer) or an offer (ex. my organization offers free tech reviews to non-profits). After the event we will move to the Sherwood for drinks and further conversation.

In the non-profit world, we are often under tight budget, time, and resource constraints. We do work that we care deeply about, and many of us have had the experience of sacrificing our personal well-being to our jobs. At this event, get some love from the Netsquared community!
