What we're about
Hello brainiacs of the world! NeuroTechVAN is the Vancouver chapter of NeuroTechX, a global network of engineers, designers, scientists, and hackers devoted to discovering the countless mysteries of the human brain and nervous system!
We have a rich collaborative culture and we work together on our projects. We believe that an open environment is one that fosters intense creativity and innovation. So whether it’s helping people become telekinetic cyborgs, curing brain disease, or if you just want to work on your whacky neuroinformatics algorithm, we invite you to come and join us at one of our weekly hack nights and unleash your inner neuronaut!
From medical to consumer devices, we'll talk about 'reading' and 'writing' the brain. (e.g. EEG, tDCS, TMS, DBS, ...) We'll discuss about the technology and science, but also its impact on our society and the ethics. Our current chapter initiative, the OpenFNIR project, aims to democratize the field of neural science by using cutting edge physics to create open sourced brain imaging devices that make meaningful neural experiments accessible to everyday hackers.
From Hackers to Researchers we want to provide a framework that will catalyze the growth of the neurotech enthusiasts network. If you call yourself a cyborg, neurohacker, neuroengineer, neurodesigner, a BCI evangelist, or if you want to learn what any/all of those words/phrases mean, come to our next hack night!
Join the conversation on Slack (https://neurotechx.herokuapp.com/), Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/neurotechx) & Twitter (https://twitter.com/neurotechx) and play an active role in the future of neurotechnology.
