Camera Setup for Canon Digital SLR Users

If you sometimes get a little confused and overwhelmed when navigating through the myriad of menus and their seemingly infinite choices for how to configure your Canon DSLR, then this session is for you!

This session will be most useful for owners of one of the following Canon camera bodies :

70D, 80D, 90D
6D, 6D Mark II
7D Mark II
5D Mark III, 5DS, 5DSR, 5D Mark IV
1D X, 1D X Mark II, 1D X Mark III

I will be mirroring my camera’s rear LCD to my computer screen and sharing it via Zoom so you will be able to follow along in real-time as I navigate through the various setup menus. As we go, I will explain the purpose of each setting, review the various options available, and make recommendations as to how to best confgure the camera for your type of shooting. We will be concentrating on still photography and will NOT be covering menus and settings that are specific to video.

I will have a 5D Mark IV, a 1D X Mark II, and a 1D X Mark III available for displaying the menus. The other cameras listed above may not have each and every option that is available on these 3 bodies, but their menus are quite similiar and you should be able to follow along fairly easily. Also, hearing about the options that you do not have will give you some insight into the kind of things you would gain by possibly upgrading your camera in the future.

If your Canon DSLR body is NOT in the above list, you are still welcome to attend and would likely still benefit, but you should be aware that we may end up spending a fair amount of time discussing features that your camera does not have.

Please have your camera available with a small lens attached so that you can follow along as we go. There will be no handouts from this session, but you will be welcome to record it using the Zoom record feature. Please note that all such recordings would be for your personal use only and must not be copied, shared, posted, or distributed in any way or form.

In order to better allow for questions and interaction throughout the presentation, extra time has been allotted, and attendance will be limited to a maximum of 20 people.
