What we're about

We are a community of people from different parts of New England all interested in the discussion and application of Stoic philosophy. Our meeting location rotates, primarily around the Boston metropolitan area, we meet as far an hour from the city as well as within its borders. Please direct any questions to Pete Fagella, the group founder.

If you notice the links below one of them is for our main page (not the facebook link). From there you can sign up for our mailing list, scroll to the bottom of the page. We often use the list to bounce around ideas for new meeting, as well as general discussion for instances where we can't wait for a meeting to discuss our philosophical thoughts. Meetup tends to be the final stage of a meeting, after the location is decided.

This meditation occurs before our regular Stoic discussion meetings as preparation, but you are welcome to attend either or both as you choose.

The meeting will occur on Zoom, and the link will be available to those who RSVP.

Philosopher's Cafe

Online event

Stoic Philosophy is a virtue based ethics system which is the foundation for cognitive behavioral therapy. If you are interested in learning about Stoic Philosophy, or already practice and want to join like minded people than come to our Philosophers Café.

This is an opportunity for people at all levels of knowledge in Stoic Philosophy to engage in a fluid conversation. We encourage those who are just learning to join with those who have been practicing for years. There is no particular topic that we be planned in advance. We are imagining that we are sitting on the painted porch, conversing about the topics of the day and passers by are just coming along to join in our talks. We can talk about current events, we can discuss our careers, we can discuss our relationships, we can discuss whatever is on our minds. We want everybody to feel comfortable enough to address whatever issues are on their mind, and we, as Stoic Philosophers will try to address those issues from a Stoic point of view.

This is a great opportunity to grow together, to become friends, help each other. This event will happen on the first Sunday of every month. We have one rule: as this is meant to build relationships and foster a safe environment for personal and community growth, we will not tolerate any aggression. We will permit people to disagree, civilly, but any insults or aggressive behavior with the clear intent to hurt will result in immediate ejection. We want this to be a safe place for people to learn, to grow, to bond with others.
