What we're about
A peer support group for anyone in recovery from or currently struggling with an eating disorder.
About the organizers: We have both received and completed treatment for Binge Eating Disorder at The Renfrew Center of Northern NJ. After months of dedication to the recovery process we discharged feeling like we had learned and grown so much. However, we felt there wasn’t enough continuing support for people in recovery who are still struggling...let alone people who are not in a financial position to seek treatment in the first place. So we decided to create this group!
This group is open to any person struggling with any form of eating disorder. If you are in a financial position to do so we strongly recommend seeking structured treatment if you are currently struggling. This group is not meant to be a sole means of recovery, but an additional source of support. However, we will not exclude anyone whether or not they have ever sought structured treatment. We just want to assert we are not professionals; just women who have struggled with eating disorders and found it incredibly helpful to speak and relate to other people who have had similar experiences.
We believe peer support within the eating disorders community is invaluable. Having a space to talk freely about the triumphs and struggles of recovery has helped us so much throughout the process. Eating disorders do not discriminate based on age, weight, gender, race, income or education so neither do we. All are welcome.
