Join us at the LGBTQ Community Center of New Orleans for a specialized 2-hour Self-Defense workshop with 3rd degree black belt, internationally trained, Krav Maga Master instructor, and women's self-defense specialist Gabriel Mora from Shaan Saar Florida. Ours is a one-day event only and we're traveling through the US to share our course designed specifically for the community and allies. All are welcome but techniques and skills covered are those particularly applicable to our community including: hair grabs, chokes, sexual assault, verbal boundary setting, escaping abduction attempts, and gun / knife threat.
There are over 1400 reported instances of hate crimes based on sexual orientation in the US each year. Our curriculum addresses violence prevention, setting firm boundaries, speaking with assertiveness and how-to observe situational awareness and body language as the first and best lines of defense.
Once class is over feel free to stay for Q & A and resources for ongoing training support in your local community to continue building your level of skill and confidence necessary to keep you safe. For those interested we'll be hosting a Meet & Greet at the Who D'At Cafe the day before the event from 11-1pm for those students who are interested in finding out more, meeting our instructor Gabriel or just chatting about your personal safety experiences.
