Portland Tech Community Kickoff (https://impactflow.com/event/1375/checkout/tickets) **
Please join us this month for our New Year's celebration! Thanks to all of you, we became the 3rd largest tech Meetup in Portland last year. And this month we will be hosting our 40th FutureTalks PDX event, and kicking off Portland Startup Week (https://portland.startupweek.co)!
For those of you that couldn't make our mashup event with NewTech last month, which included an outstanding presentation by Futurist Steve Brown (http://www.baldfuturist.com) (video coming soon), you'll get to check out our new digs (http://www.bizjournals.com/portland/news/2016/12/07/check-out-new-relics-newest-views-as-it-takes-more.html) on the 27th floor!
We have also invited a few leaders from the tech community to join us, and asked them to share what trends they see for the region's tech and startup community in 2017. This panel discussion will include Q&A, so get your questions ready!
Currently, joining us will be ...
Malia Spencer (https://twitter.com/PDXBizMalia) is a staff reporter for the Portland Business Journal, covering technology, startups and entrepreneurs.
Rebecca Campbell (https://twitter.com/nerdygirl) is a Senior Director of Engineering, focused on building out the internal engineering platform at New Relic.
Rick Turoczy (https://twitter.com/turoczy) is the Cofounder of PIE, Founder of Silicon Florist, and Cofounder & Advisor to the Oregon Story Board.
Skip Newberry (http://www.techoregon.org/who-we-are/staff/skip-newberry) is the President and CEO of the Technology Association of Oregon. He is a frequent speaker on technology trends and topics, economic development, public-private partnerships and civic innovation.
Finally, if you could please take just a couple minutes to fill out our Meetup group SURVEY (https://goo.gl/forms/GZot5pvm9msPRDCd2), that would help us tremendously with planning out 2017.
** NOTE: please REGISTER for the event via ImpactFlow (https://impactflow.com/event/1375/checkout/tickets).
• Doors will open at 5:30 for a networking happy hour! The food, beer and drinks are provided by Bellagios and New Relic.
• The Q&A panel will begin at 6:30p.
• NOTE: after the event, everyone is invited to continue networking at a special happy hour opportunity, one story up at Portland City Grill.
› FutureTalks is brought to you by New Relic (http://www.newrelic.com/) in collaboration with TAO (http://www.techoregon.org/).
