What we're about
This meetup is for anyone who could use some help in life and think they could benefit from the feedback and insight of others. As someone who struggles with life himself at times I am creating this group as a meeting place for people to study together and encourage each other in the ongoing quest for wellness.
The model we will follow is called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), one of the three dominant forms of psychotherapy in practice today and the only one based on solid, empirical, evidence-based science. It's focus is the present and future, not the past. You can begin feeling better today without fussing over yesterday.
The group will consist of reading materials that the group can pour over as well as exercises to complete. We will then convene to discuss what we've read or written and hopefully spark some lively interaction.
This is all as new to me as it is to you in many ways and we are all in this together. I'm not a therapist of any kind at all. I'm just the one starting the group since strangely nobody seems to have done so yet. Please join and we will embark on this learning discovery as one.
