Kotlin Meetup - Dissecting Coroutines and Advanced Kotlin

Details

Happy New Year!

The next NYC Kotlin Meetup will be happening on Wednesday January 16th, 2019 at the SeatGeek office - 400 Lafayette St Floor 4

Talks:

Dissecting Coroutines - Mohit Sarveiya

2019 maybe be the year of Kotlin coroutines. What is a coroutine anyway? A coroutine is an instance of a state machine and a suspending function defines the state machine. What does that mean? Join me in this talk as we will explore the ins and out of coroutines. We will dive deep into channels, actors and the reactive streams modules. We’ll also look at their usage to solve common async problems in Android.

Advanced Kotlin - Brent Watson

Brent will be giving the talk that he presented at droidcon nyc and droidcon sf on "Advanced Kotlin". We'll cover some of the more advanced features of Kotlin in this talk such as delegates, annotation use-site targets, tailrec, reflection, and much more.

Location: Thank you to SeatGeek for hosting and providing food and drinks. When you arrive someone will be at the entrance checking ids and directing you where to go.

Speaker Bios:

Mohit Sarveiya is an Android Engineer and a Kotlin advocate. Prior to building Android apps, he was a Backend Engineer. He was an early adopter of Kotlin and absolutely loves the language.
