January AFOL Lego Meetup Theme: Streetscape

ACTIVITIES:
16x16 Build Contest - Using the bricks on hand at the meetup build a structure on a 16x16 plate that can be placed along our "street". You can create a building or a park or a crazy jungle gym. A 2-stud sidewalk will be required along one edge to create continuity along our streetscape. Otherwise, as long as your creation fits within the 16x16 build space with no overhang, anything goes! At the end, we'll line up everyone's creations along a main drag and see the creative streetscape we've all built together.

Car Build Contest - How can we have a streetscape without any vehicles to cruise up and down the street? In our second contest of the day, build a vehicle (max size 4x12) to drive along our streetscape.

At the end, we'll vote for the best entry in each contest and the winners will be awarded a small LEGO prize.

Sharing or Show-And-Tell TBD based on what members bring. Built a cool model before? Bring it along for show-and-tell or just show us some pictures. When you bring a model for show and tell, you are not donating it, but just enjoying displaying it to share with others. You take your model back home.

Note on Fees:
We have an pay-what-you-can policy. Please contribute (or not) an amount that makes you comfortable via credit card here on Meetup or in cash at events. In the past, participants have contributed as little as $1 and as much as $20. The event is free and there is no obligation to contribute. Even if you are not able to contribute, you are still very welcome! Lego can be an expensive hobby and we want this group to remain accessible to everyone age 18+. We welcome casual fans, serious AFOLs, and newbies alike.

Contributions go towards snacks, room costs, Lego prizes, and meetup fees.
