What we're about
In these times of rapid change and growing fragmentation we feel it’s important to find internal calm and meaning in life. This group offers simple down-to-earth guided meditations designed to connect with deeper parts of oneself and one’s own experience of the sacred.
We use the book “Silo’s Message” to guide our meetings. Silo is a spiritual guide who is also well-known for developing Universalist Humanism.
Our purpose is to create an environment that will nurture and foster deep experiences and help us notice them and live them in our daily life.
Our meetings are small and community oriented so that everyone can interact easily and comfortably. And they are always open – no commitment or experience is required. Complete beginners are welcome.
Each meeting is divided into two parts: the first is dedicated to discussion and interchange from Silo's Message and the second part to internal experience. We work with guided experiences that focus on Well-Being for ourselves and others and an experience which is focused on quieting the mind and awakening the internal energy, known as the Force.
This is not a religious organization and we welcome and respect people of all backgrounds and beliefs. We work entirely on a volunteer basis. There are no costs for the meeting.
Occasionally we have day long seminars at the Hudson Valley Park of Study and Reflection (see our sister meetup group http://www.meetup.com/Spirituality-Nature-M... (http://www.meetup.com/Spirituality-Nature-Meetup-Day-trips-out-of-NYC/)). The Park is a beautiful retreat center located 2 hours from New York City which is part of the world-wide network of parks inspired by Silo’s work. http://www.hudsonvalleypark.org/
