Abstract: On-premises data warehouse solutions are typically a large up-front capital expense which expensive boundaries to expansion. This led my organization to look to the cloud. In this session, I cover the basics of Azure SQL Data Warehouse, its massively parallel processing architecture, and why you should be interested in combining the flexibility and scalability of the cloud with a massively parallel processing data warehouse.
Speaker Bio: Derik is a Microsoft Data Platform MVP who builds data solutions from front-line OLTP systems to MPP data warehouses and all the integrations in between. He is passionate about cloud computing, performance, and automation.
Derik is currently a Senior Data Manager working for Subway, leading a team of solution architects in a hybrid environment blending Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and on-premises resources.
