If you write and enjoy being around others who are obsessed/possessed by words, this is the group for you. We're poets, fantasy writers, bloggers, ghostwriters and everything in between. We're all looking to create and inspire. Some are published, some are not, most are trying to finish a project and others just want to get back in the habit of writing. Some of us write for a living, many don't. We have creative goals and are building a writing community where all are welcome!
Our workshops are divided into two parts. The first part is a workshop based on an aspect of writing, or the publishing process designed and facilitated by our organizer Damien Tillman. The second part allows members who sign up, time to share their work and get constructive feedback. Each month we dedicate to a different topic and that topic is divided into two parts. We discuss and engage in activities that help us make sense of the topic as well as improve our craft. We use writing prompts, small and whole group writing activities, and Damien uses his multi-modal approach to bring the best out of everyone involved. The reading presentations are limited to 8 minutes, depending on how many people sign up. We have a website, social media (Twitter:@nywritingclub) (IG: @nywritingclub) and a Facebook group ( http://www.facebook.com/groups/newyorkwritingclub/ ) where members will be able to post information regarding their events, projects, ask questions and make comments.
If you appreciate writing and expressing yourself, why not come share it with us. Let's gain inspiration and inspire each other at the same time!
"Writing means sharing. It's part of the human condition to want to share things - thoughts, ideas, opinions." --Paulo Coelh
LONG MESSAGE but we mean it!
The New York Writing Club was made to create a community of writers from different walks of life who come together in their interest and passion for writing. With this in mind, I've been pushing to build our social media presence in hopes to continue to grow this great group. We are looking for people who have some professional background in the literary world who can offer services to our members, be it editing, proofreading, copyright, web design, graphic arts, book reviews, blogging etc. those who want to support on an administrative level and those who just want to be a part of a responsive writing community.
