Portland winter lights festival 2022!

Pioneer Courthouse Square

Possibly one of my favorite events in February!

Let's get to the juicy stuff! 😏.

It's free and outside, and used to be sprawled out along the waterfront on the east side.

This year, with the virus that everyone is scared of but it not being that serious, they've decided to spread it out.

With the largest concentration of the lighting focused downtown Portland, we will likely remain in that area for most of the event.

Afterwards, we may visit some close by location to grab some food and drinks.

Where do we meet? Let's do the pioneer courthouse square! There will likely be quite a bit of people there so finding the group will require a bit more detective work.

The easiest way would be to look for me. I'm very easy to spot, and there is no mistaking me. Don't know what I look like? Well, look for a post in the comments section perhaps with an uploaded photo that I'll take on the day of the event with hopefully a better description of where we will be.

We will meet up around 6:15pm with a departure time away from the square 15 minutes after, heading towards the lights in a currently unplanned route.

So departure time 6:30pm. If you miss the meeting time, maybe you can walk the festival yourself and wait for a post for our after event hangout spot.

That or you can try posting in the comments section and see if anyone will respond. I'll be hosting and will not be able to answer.

When it comes to parking the most affordable option will be street parking. Finding one close isn't likely so you'll need to walk at least 5 blocks. Street parking is $2 an hour, but free after 7 so you'll likely only need to pay for an hour.

This event is being cross promoted in 9 other groups: The happy hour club (and more), /R/ Portland meetup, Portland travel buddies and fun events, PDX Anything Goes!, Badass happy hour mofos, Art Geeks, The Beervana Experience, Young Professionals Social Club, and Uniquely Portland.

Travel to Cuba is still LEGAL and this trip will follow all the rules set by the U.S. Treasury’s OFAC. Cuba is frozen in time with classic America cars whizzing by crumbling colonial architecture which will make you feel like you’re back in time. Our group will be mostly solo (female) travelers and we won’t be staying in the massive, soulless chain hotels, but rather in guesthouses/B&Bs to get a small taste of the “real Cuba”. We’ll do all the things on your bucket list like riding around in a classic convertible car and learning the art of cigar rolling, but we’ll also be interacting with the locals during our morning walk around a Havana neighborhood as well as during a typical Cuban night out!

- 8 nights accommodation in casa particulares (double occupancy)
- Private Cuban guide throughout
- Private, air-conditioned transportation
- Activities as noted on the itinerary
- All breakfasts, 6 lunches, 4 dinners
COVID UPDATE: If your trip is cancelled due to COVID, a full refund of all money paid for the tour will be made.

An off-the-beaten-path trip during Vietnam’s greenest season… Venture into the heart of Indochina as you explore the bustling, frenetic cities of Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh City as well as the lesser-visited Pu Luong Nature Reserve. April is the perfect time to visit Vietnam as the crowds are fewer and the rice fields that stretch as far as the eye can see are brilliant shades of green. See Vietnam as few get to see it.

Verdant rice fields & local villages: Pu Luong’s misty hillsides and rolling green landscapes are often overshadowed by the now touristy Sa Pa. Enjoy serene views in peace and relax in our hotel’s infinity pool while taking in the scenery.

Cruise Ha Long Bay in style: Sail around the untouched areas of Ha Long Bay away from the hordes of tourists on a 5-star luxury ship.

Travel like a local: Hop on the back of a motorbike with our expert drivers to see the real Ho Chi Minh City through the eyes of the Saigonese!

A boating experience like no other: Hop in a bamboo basket boat and paddle downriver in Hoi An while local fishermen cast their nets for today’s catch.

Greek Island Trip! - May 2022

• Dates: May 21 - 30, 2022 (10-days)
• Cost: $2500 (per person, excluding flights)
• Room upgrades available
• Details: https://globe-drifters.com/trip/greek-naxos-staycation-10-or-15-days/

This trip is a “slowcation” and you can read more about it here: https://globe-drifters.com/extended-stay-trips/

Below is some information. If you have any questions, you can email [masked].
Stay in a 5-star boutique hotel located in the peaceful countryside of Naxos, but just a 15 minute walk into the island’s old town (with a grocery store and plenty of cafes & restaurants) and a 5 minute walk to some of the most beautiful beaches in the Aegean Sea (with umbrella and beach chair rental available!).

There are some really amazing activities planned during the trip such as: a private catamaran around some of the more far-flung and less-traveled Cycladian islands, a private culinary experience at a local family’s farm, and a movie at the local, open-air cinema!

Naxos is the biggest island in the Cyclades and it is a transportation hub for getting to many of the more well-known islands like Paros, Mykonos and Santorini which are all affordable & reachable by ferry with Paros taking only 30 minutes by ferry, Mykonos 45 minutes by ferry and to Santorini 1 hour and 30 minutes allowing for day trips to many of the islands.
