Our theme for this month is Diversity In Tech. It’s no secret, companies with more diversity, whether it’s racial, ethnic, or gender, perform better than those with less. We’re excited to invite you to learn about the difficulties, successes, and benefits of diversity in the tech industry, and what we can all do to ensure opportunities are available for all of us, and make diversity the standard, not the exception.

  • the crowd:
The Northwest’s smart, fun, creative, innovative tech community – software and application developers, company owners, startup founders, recruiters, hackers, job seekers, executives, investors, community leaders, and people who are new to the area.

  • the speakers:
Founders, leaders & innovators sharing their passion & new tech through 5 minute presentations & 3 minutes of your Q&A. Presenters flow from early stage startups to enterprise companies.

The Diversity Center of Seattle by Jeanine Spence - Diversity Center of Washington

Intentionalist presented by Laura Clise - An online guide to intentional spending that supports small businesses and diverse local communities. We make it easy for you to find local restaurants, bars, gyms, shops, and more owned by women, people of color, veterans, LGBTQ, families, and differently abled people.

TAF (Technology Access Foundation) presented by Trish Millines Dziko - A nonprofit leader in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education. We use STEM as a tool for realizing social change and educational equality in communities of color and those with low income.

Creating Safe & Inclusive Spaces presented by Jasmine Farrar - We will reflect on the concept of psychological safety and the importance of building communities that cultivate safe spaces.

  • the format:
Connecting > community building > community shoutouts > sponsor shoutouts > presentations > afterparty

  • the vibe:
Neighborhood block party – fun, friendly & relaxed with complementary food & a no host bar. You’ll laugh, smile, and have a fun night out with 200+ Seattleites, 100+ Eastsiders or 50+ Tacomans.

  • the experience:
Discover innovative, creative and inspirational new technology (or smarter use of old tech). Could be VR, IoT, Apps, Fintech, Mobiletech, Healthtech, Cloudtech… you get the idea.

+the afterparty
